Add-on set for IoT for the Robotics Base Set

Professional entry into measured value acquisition with the Robotics Add On: IoT! Together with the Robotics Base Set, the stationary sensor station enables the measurement of air temperature, humidity, air pressure, air quality and brightness. The sensor station can be programmed and controlled with the graphical programming software ROBO Pro Coding and the ROBOTICS TXT 4.0 controller and is ideal for teaching topics such as data acquisition, programming and the use of actuators and sensors. Measured values are recorded by connecting the TXT 4.0 Controller to a cloud in which the sensor data is stored and can be retrieved, saved, collected and graphically displayed. The various sensor data can be permanently monitored via the user interface, the so-called "dashboard", and the camera, which can be swiveled in two axes, can be controlled remotely. The Robotics Add On: IoT is rounded off by the teaching material, which contains six experiments with corresponding solutions.

  • Task 1: Weather station

    Topics: Evaluation of sensor data for weather display, weather forecast via air pressure measurement and barometric altitude formula, visualization of sensor data on a web server, expansion of the weather station to include a webcam

    Learning objectives:

    • Recording measured values, meaningful visualization and evaluation
    • Using the barometric altitude formula to create a weather forecast
    • NTC resistance and temperature calculation (Steinhart-Hart equation)

  • Task 2: Indoor climate

    Topic: Measurement of indoor climate factors (relative humidity, temperature, air quality, brightness, volume), definition and measurement of a "ventilation indicator" for classrooms ("CO2 traffic light"), determination of illuminance

    Learning objectives:

    • Understanding the concept of relative humidity
    • Understanding the measurement of sound level (decibels)
    • Understanding the concept of illuminance (lux) and its determination from the values of a photoresistor
    • Knowledge of typical limit values for relative humidity, temperature, sound level and illuminance
    • Derivation of an index value from several measured values according to specified weighting

  • Task 3: Alarm system

    Topic: Voice and remote control of a camera ("pan-tilt control"), motion and sound activation, use of a web server for remote control of an IoT system

    Learning objectives:

    • Precise control via encoder motors
    • Appropriate structuring of a program through the use of functions
    • Understanding of the MQTT protocol
