Add-on set for Omniwheels for the Robotics Base Set

Program your own robots with the fischertechnik Robotics Add On: Omniwheels. Together with the Robotics Base Set, four exciting Omniwheel models can be constructed that are waiting to be brought to life. You can build driving robots with different tasks, such as a soccer robot, a shooting robot and a painting robot. A highlight in this construction set are the Omniwheels, which are driven by four encoder motors, two of which are included in the base set, and thus enable movement in any direction! The new fischertechnik TXT 4.0 controller offers many new features with the new ROBO Pro Coding programming software. The concept is rounded off by seven experiments with corresponding solutions.

  • Task 1: Mecanum-Omniwheels vehicle with obstacle detection

    Topic: Controlling a vehicle with Mecanum-Omniwheels wheels and detecting obstacles.

    Learning objectives:

    • Understanding how Mecanum Omniwheels wheels work and obstacle detection.
    • Clear programming using status variables and functions
    • Detection of lines and obstacles with sensors (infrared, ultrasound)
    • Navigation via motor pulses

  • Task 2: Lane following

    Topic: Digital control of the vehicle and proportional (and PD) control of driving along a black line; recognizing and reacting to obstacles.

    Learning objectives:

    • Simple three-point control using digital sensors
    • Addition of obstacle detection (ultrasonic distance measurement)
    • Analog control using line detection (camera with image evaluation)
    • Calibration of a P and a PD controller

  • Task 3: Painting robot

    Topic: controlling the Mecanum Omniwheels vehicle to draw geometric shapes and given lines.

    Learning objectives:

    • Use of functions for clear program design
    • Modeling and calculation of vehicle control (trigonometry)
    • Designing data structures

  • Task 4: Ball robot

    Topic: Image evaluation for distance determination and target alignment.

    Learning objectives:

    • Experimental analysis of a task
    • "Computational thinking": breaking down a complex task into manageable and solvable subtasks, which are then combined (divide and conquer principle)
